GLOBE is ready to deploy “Libreng Tawag, Charging and WiFi” services to residents in areas that may be affected by tropical depression “Lannie,” which already made landfall in Cebu, Negros Oriental, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Bohol, Southern Leyte and other parts of the Visayas.
As of Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, Lannie packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving toward the West Philippine Sea.
Globe assures the public that it is ready to deploy needed assistance which will ensure continuous communications services. The company’s technical and support personnel are also on standby. It also has generators for its facilities in case of power supply interruptions.
Globe also advises residents to stay indoors, store enough food and water, prepare candles and first aid kits, ensure their flashlights have extra batteries, fully charge their mobile phones and stay alert for SMS from NDRRMC in case of heavy rains, possible flash floods or landslides.
Globe is also providing its customers with free data access to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) website for updates and reminds the public to only tune in to legitimate and trusted websites.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, “Lannie” may bring heavy to intense winds with at times torrential rains in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental and several parts of Visayas.
Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are also likely over the southern portion of Cuyo and Coron, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro and Zambales.
